When any piece of equipment which contains a refrigerant (i.e., refrigerator, air conditioner, etc.) reaches the end of its useful life, in order to become disposed of, it must have all of its refrigerant charge removed so it can no longer be used for its original intended purpose.
A label should be affixed to the equipment prior to the equipment being disposed of.
This label states the refrigerant has been responsibly removed from the equipment along with the technician’s certification number.
All refrigerant is considered to be removed from a closed-loop refrigerant system or refrigerant container when the recovery unit has achieved its maximum vacuum.
